Use “Insert Advanced Symbol” function in word to add symbols to the manuscript and “Insert Equation” to add equations. Make sure that the symbols and equations don’t change when you convert the document to PDF format. |
References |
References are cited numerically in the text according to the order in which they appear, and they are listed in corresponding order in references section. If a referencing software is used, ensure to unlink all references before submitting (ie. convert to static text). |

Figures, tables and supplementary material
Figures |
Figures are submitted separately as individual image files (.jpg or .png), NOT embedded in the manuscript. Figure titles, figure captions, are included at the end of the manuscript in size 12 Times New Roman font as indicated in the example manuscript, NOT as images. Figure file names include last name of first author, year of submission, and figure number (i.e. " Chang_et_al_2020_Fig1.jpg") |

External submissions
External submissions must include a formal letter of endorsement from an instructor or faculty member indicating that they have read the manuscript, are aware of the submission, and endorse the potential publication into UJEMI+ (Letter should include a formal institutional letter head and contact information). Please submit this along with all submission material through our online submission system as "Other".
How to submit?
- Go to the online submission site: https://ojs.library.ubc.ca/index.php/UJEMI/login
- Create an account by clicking “Register”. Note: only one person per team needs to have an account, preferably the person planning to submit the manuscript. They will be the “corresponding author” on the paper.
- Create a new submission under the “Submissions tab”. Follow the on screen prompts. You will receive an email confirmation once you have completed the submission process. More submission guidelines can be found here: https://ojs.library.ubc.ca/index.php/UJEMI/about/submissions

Submission Deadline
UJEMI accepts manuscript submissions up until May 15th each year. Submissions after the deadline will be rolled over to the next publication year. UJEMI peer review and publication process runs from May to August. Articles are published yearly in late August or early September.
What to expect after submitting
The editorial and peer review process runs from May to August each year, during this time, ensure that you login regularly to OJS to monitor any correspondents with the editors or view any incoming peer reviews. Any messages sent to authors in OJS will also be emailed to them using the email that they registered with. Ensure that OJS emails are being forwarded to your inbox and not the spam/junk folder.
